The Rochester City School District is calling on community members, including parents, caregivers, and relatives of RCSD students, to consider joining the District workforce as schools prepare for the 2026 - 2027 school year.
The District is actively hiring for a variety of school-based and district positions, with an immediate need for substitute teachers, teaching assistants, paraprofessionals, and other critical roles that directly support students and schools.
"Preparing for a successful school year takes an entire community," said Dr. Chris Miller, Chief of Human Capital. "Every adult who joins our team has the opportunity to positively impact a child's life. Whether you're looking for a new career, a meaningful way to give back, or a position that aligns with your family's schedule, there may be a place for you in RCSD."
Full-time, part-time, and substitute opportunities are available, with some positions offering flexible schedules that align with the school day and calendar. These roles may be especially appealing to parents, caregivers, retirees, college students, career changers, and others seeking meaningful work that supports Rochester’s students. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for competitive pay, excellent health and retirement benefits, paid holidays and time off, tuition assistance, ongoing professional development, and opportunities for advancement. Many positions also provide family-friendly schedules that align with the school day and calendar, offering employees the opportunity to build a meaningful career while maintaining a healthy work-life balance.
The Office of Human Capital is conducting ongoing recruitment throughout the Rochester community and connecting with prospective applicants to explain available positions, qualifications, and the hiring process.
"Some of our best employees are people who never imagined themselves working in a school," Dr. Miller said. "If you care about children, believe in Rochester, and want to make a difference, we encourage you to explore the opportunities available. Your next career could begin here."
Community members are encouraged to share employment information with family members, friends, neighbors, parent groups, professional networks, faith communities, and others who may be interested in joining RCSD. Candidates can review current openings and apply at RCSDK12.org/careers.
