New York State Electric & Gas (NYSEG) and Rochester Gas and Electric (RG&E) are hiring at multiple locations across their service areas. The Companies are looking to fill 39 seasonal union customer service positions.
These roles offer a chance to stay active while serving our neighborhoods and working independently. Team members spend their days out in the community, visiting homes and local businesses, helping customers with everyday services like payments and meter readings, and making sure information is recorded accurately.
“Many of our long-time, full-time employees started out with seasonal positions, so this is a great opportunity for someone to get their foot in the door with two of New York State’s largest energy employers and gain industry knowledge,” said NYSEG and RG&E’s Vice President of Customer Service Christine Alexander.
These positions are well-suited for people who enjoy being on the move, working outdoors, and having a job that doesn’t keep them behind a desk. Each day brings new locations and interactions, with plenty of opportunities to engage with the communities we serve. This opportunity is ideal for self‑motivated individuals who take pride in managing their own day and representing the company in a professional, neighbor‑to‑neighbor way. Experience in route‑based or customer‑facing work—such as delivery, mail services, or field support—is helpful but not required. Applicants must be at least 18 years old and have a valid driver’s license.
Applicants can apply for open positions on the Companies’ careers page here: Meter Reader Collector - Seasonal, Utility Worker II - Transitional TEMP.
NYSEG and RG&E are committed to the communities they serve. By investing in good-paying jobs, the Companies help create meaningful economic opportunities that strengthen the region’s economy.
