Sandra Meléndez has been named an official delegate for the 2010 Ms Belleza Latina International Pageant. The pageant selects titleholders to represent their country of residence, cultural heritage, state, or city at the international competition.
The pageant finals will be held July 9 through 12, 2010 in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Delegates from across the United States and the world will compete in Interview, Evening Gown, Photogenic, and Fashion Modeling events. Winners will be featured in international promotions and represent Latina women all over the world.

In addition to the competition, delegates will enjoy a day of sightseeing, photo shoots, parties, banquets, but more importantly meet other Latinas from all over and share in their cultural pride!

Ms. Sandra Meléndez has been honored with the title of Ms. New York Belleza Latina 2010 (over 30). She is a 44 year old Latina of Puerto Rican decent and resides in Webster, New York, where she is a single mother raising her two children (Gabriella age 18 and Kevin Baltazar age 13).

After graduating with a dual Bachelors Degree from Syracuse University and SUNY Environmental Science & Forestry, in 1987, Ms. Melendez began her career with Eastman Kodak Company (Fortune 500) in the Environmental Health & Safety division as an Environmental Scientist. In 1998, she transitioned her career and worked for the University of Rochester Medical Center-Children’s Hospital at Strong in the Office of Community Affairs and Development working in the fundraising efforts for the Children’s Hospital at Strong  In 2002, she furthered her professional career at Paychex Inc., as a licensed agent in all 50 states in the Property Casualty and Life Accident & Health lines of insurance. Currently, she is expanding her professional career as a licensed agent and financial advisor. And recently, she has been nominated into the membership of the National Association of Professional Women.

Meléndez has been involved in a wide variety of community and volunteer activities. She began her volunteer work while in college as a member of the Delta Delta Delta sorority. She continued her volunteer work at Eastman Kodak Company as an elected council member on their Working Parents League. Later, she became involved with Rochester, New York City School District, which she has been recognized as a dedicated volunteer and for her involvement in Adopt-a-School Program. In addition, Melendez was honored as the 1998 recipient of the Hector Cholo Cruz Volunteer Service Award presented to her by the Hispanic Organization for Leadership and Advancement which is one of the highest recognition awards to be given within the Hispanic community.

Meléndez continues to expand her volunteer and community work to assist with fundraisers, educational programs, promotions, and other special events that will aid communities across the state of New York, as well as, Nationally.

In her past, she participated in modeling and in the Miss New York-USA pageants and found her experiences rewarding. Now, as Ms. New York Belleza Latina 2010, Melendez hopes to represent the Latina woman as an intelligent, ambitious, energetic, talented, strong willed and personable woman while holding true to cultural, ethical and family values; and to be admired by her peers to create pride in her culture and community.

BELLEZA LATINA MS. NEW YORK 2010

La señora mostrada ha sido nombrada la delegada oficial para el concurso Ms. Belleza Internacional del 2010. El concurso elige las que llevan el titulo para representar a su país de residencia, su herencia cultural,  su estado o ciudad en la competencia internacional.

Los finales del concurso se llevarán a cabo el 9 de julio hasta el 12 del 2010 en la ciudad de Ann Arbor, Michigan. Delegadas a través de los EEUU y el mundo competirán en entrevistar, vestimenta formal, lo fotogénica, y en modelaje. Las premiadas serán mostradas en promociones internacionales y  representan a mujeres latinas por todo el mundo.

Además, de la competencia, las delegadas disfrutan de un día de turismo, tomas de fotos, fiestas, banquetes, y más importante, conocen a otras latinas de todos países y comparten su orgullo latino!

Ms. Sandra Meléndez ha sido otorgada el honor del título, Ms. New York Belleza Latina 2010 (sobre 30 años). Es una latina de 44 años de descendencia Puertorriqueña y reside en el pueblo de Webster, Nueva York, donde es una madre soltera criando a sus dos hijos, Gabriella, 18 anos, y Kevin Baltazar de 13.

En el transcurso de su carrera profesional, Ms. Meléndez ha enfocado con consistencia los  elementos claves de la excelencia, perseverancia y dedicación en balancear su rol como madre soltera criando a dos niños y las presiones de su carrera. Como madre soltera, Ms. Meléndez ha enfrentado muchos obstáculos y adversidades los cuales abarcó y ha sobrellevado con una actitud positiva y devoción a su familia y valores personales y éticos. Fuera de su carrera profesional, toma orgullo en ser una madre soltera y en pasar mucho tiempo con sus hijos. Se siente orgullosa de los éxitos de sus hijos y apoya siempre sus sueños. Les motiva a seguir sus sueños y perseguir todas sus ambiciones porque cree que no hay límites de lo que el espíritu puede cumplir en el camino de la vida.

Ms. Meléndez ha estado envuelta en una gran variedad de actividades voluntarios.
A través de los años de voluntaria, ha sido una lectora para los escudos de América y la Cruz Roja para jóvenes en la comunidad.  El año pasado, Ms. Meléndez se hizo miembro de la junta para la Fundación de Jóvenes Peloteros Latinos, donde comparte la misión de la fundación para fomentar principios de desarrollo personal adquiridos a través del deporte dirigidos a niños de la ciudad para que puedan mejor enfrentar los desafíos de los estudios y aplicar destrezas para tener éxito a pesar de sus desventajas socioeconómicas.

Ms. Meléndez continua agrandando su función como voluntaria y trabajo en la comunidad para asistir en recaudar fondos, programas de educación, promociones y otros eventos especiales que ayudaran a la comunidad a través del estado y por todo el país.

En el pasado, Ms. Meléndez participo en el modelaje y en el concurso de Miss New York y Miss USA y los encontró ser experiencias alentadoras. Ahora, como Ms. New York Belleza Latina 2010, Sandra Meléndez espera representar la mujer latina como inteligente, ambiciosa, enérgica, talentosa, determinada, y  una mujer de personalidad sin perder las raíces de su cultura, valores de familia y ética y digna de ser admirada por sus prójimos y  crear orgullo en su cultura y  en la comunidad.
